In 2006 I founded norfox, the Library Theatre Company’s resident company for young performers. I then went on to run the company until 2012 building its reputation as one of the leading groups in the North West making work with and for young people.
The company offers performers aged 15 – 18 the opportunity to develop their creative practice within a professional environment. The company make two performances per year and have become one of the most respected ensembles for young performers in the North West. Previous members have gone on to develop their practice further at Manchester School of the Theatre, ALRA, Central School of Speech and Drama and RADA. My work with the company also focused upon developing inclusive creative practice and methodolgy enursing that the group was accessible to all young people – especially those least likely to have access cultrual provision.
Productions I developed with the group included:
- Fugee by Abi Morgan (pictured above)
- Troilus and Cressida by William Shakespeare
- Puss in Boots by Angela Carter
- Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht.
More recently the company went on to create their own devised and scripted work with the last four productions I made with them being premieres created exclusively by the young people.
I acted as Artistic Director for the group, and Producer on all their projects.
